Junior Fisheries/Aquaculture Expert

The consortium COFAD GmbH / GOPA Com. is looking for a Junior Fisheries/Aquaculture Expert to assist the Fisheries and Aquaculture Monitoring and Evaluation Support Unit (FAME SU).

 

Description of the position:

Tasks of the FAME Support Unit are supports the European Commission and the EU countries in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the European Marine and Fisheries Fund (M&E). Specific tasks are

  • To assist in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the EMFF and to provide the Commission with regular updates and analysis of the state of play of the implementation of the EMFF.
  • To build capacity across the member states and in the Commission on evaluation and monitoring methodologies, indicators and good practices.

The FAME support unit brings together a network of experts with a wide range of professional experiences relevant to the project. The core team of the FAME Support Unit is based in Brussels and provides support at EU level and in the EU countries through working papers, reports, stories presenting good projects, workshops, presentations, needs assessments, peer reviews and trainings.

The Junior Fisheries and Aquaculture Expert will be part of the core team in Brussels. He/she will assist the team in technical as well as in organisational and administrative matters.

The position is permanent and will start as soon as possible. Duty station is Brussels.

 

Key requirements:

  • University degree in fisheries, marine biology or other relevant sciences.
  • Good communication and reporting skills and ability to assist in the drafting of reports and similar documents for a range of audiences (policy makers, experts, general public etc.)
  • Good organization skills (office procedures, event management, etc.)
  • A very good command of English both spoken and written;
  • An excellent command of MS Office Suite
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience .

Advantages:

  • Native English;
  • Experience in data base management;
  • Work experience on fisheries and/or aquaculture and the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF);
  • Work experience with EU regulations
