Senegal, September 2026: COFAD Awarded Technical Advisory Role for the AQUAPOLES Integrated Aquaculture Project in Senegal

COFAD is pleased to announce the award of a Technical Assistance to the Project Owner (AMO) contract for the AQUAPOLES project in Senegal. The assignment has been awarded by FONSIS, Senegal's Sovereign Strategic Investment Fund, to support the preparation and evaluation of a major integrated aquaculture investment initiative.

AQUAPOLES aims to develop an integrated aquaculture value chain encompassing industrial fish farming operations, a fish feed manufacturing plant, and a fish processing facility. The project is expected to contribute to the sustainable growth of Senegal's aquaculture sector while strengthening domestic production capacities and value addition.

Under this assignment, COFAD will provide independent technical and financial expertise throughout the project preparation phase. The mission includes the review of aquaculture farm designs, fish feed production systems, processing infrastructure, business plans, and financial models. Particular attention will be given to the assessment of technical feasibility, investment readiness, and project bankability to support informed investment decisions.

The assignment will mobilise COFAD's multidisciplinary expertise in aquaculture engineering, fish feed production, processing technologies, and investment analysis. Working closely with FONSIS and other stakeholders, COFAD will deliver independent technical reviews, strategic recommendations, and a comprehensive bankability assessment aimed at supporting the successful development and financing of the project.

This award further strengthens COFAD's position as a trusted advisor for large-scale aquaculture investments and reinforces its commitment to supporting the sustainable development of aquatic food systems across Africa.
