Germany - Advisory assistance for the strategy for integrated local development in the fisheries area Fishing Port Bremerhaven
As in previous EU funding periods, in this funding period (2021-2027) of the EMFAF, priority axis 3 ("Enabling a sustainable blue economy in coastal, island and inland areas and fostering the development of fishing and aquaculture communities") offers opportunities to promote the sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture economic areas in accordance with a local development concept.
So-called local action groups have to develop a development strategy and submit it for approval. The strategy sets the priorities in the area for the ongoing funding period, checks their compliance with the aims of the priority axis 3 of the EMFAF and other political and legal requirements and delineates the decision process for projects.
The COFAD in-house team assisted in the formulation of a development strategy ready for approval by the Fishing Port Bremerhaven. This strategy gathers and prioritises aims for future development and formulates a mission statement. It further describes the socioeconomic situation in the fisheries area, elaborates a SWOT analysis, and describes procedures and preconditions such as
• the management and support during the implementation of the strategy,
• the project application, selection and approval,
• criteria for project selection,
• financial planning,
• structure, aims and tasks of the local action group,
• working methods and decision-making of the local action group,
• measurable targets for the strategy, the work of the local action group and completed projects.
The client Fischereihafen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (FBG) and local stakeholders participated in the elaboration of the strategy in contributing important background information and their views on the priority structure for the fields of action. Read more (in German)
