Senegal, May 2025: COFAD gets awarded a contract to support the development of aquaculture centres and an aquaculture training programme

COFAD is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a contract to support the development of aquaculture centers and the implementation of a comprehensive training programme for producers in Senegal. Funded by the World Bank, this project is part of the SENREM natural resource management initiative which aims to strengthen fisheries and forestry resources.

Our activities will focus on providing technical assistance for efficient management and optimal operation of aquaculture centers, enhancing the technical capacities of the ANA and training beneficiaries in various aspects of aquaculture including fry production, farm monitoring, disease management, stock management, genetic improvement, fish nutrition, feed formulation, and marketing. By the end of the project in 2028, we aim to increase production by 4,000 tonnes and create 5,000 jobs in the sector, significantly contributing to the resilience and productivity of Senegal's aquaculture industry.
