Zambia, April 2025: COFAD secures contract for aquaculture training and support for small-scale armers in Luapula Province

COFAD has been awarded a contract by GIZ to conduct aquaculture training and follow-up loops for small-scale farmers in Luapula Province, Zambia. The project, part of the GIZ Global Programme Sustainable Aquatic Food, aims to improve sustainable aquaculture practices and enhance food security.

Our activities will focus on providing comprehensive technical training, building local capacity, and implementing innovative coaching loops to support 1,000 farmers, including 30% women. By leveraging the expertise of our team and local partners, Success In Community Action (SCA), we aim to increase fish production by 30% and improve livelihoods in the region. The project will involve hands-on training sessions, development of aquaculture infrastructure, and the use of digital tools such as radio shows to extend the reach of knowledge sharing. This initiative is expected to create significant positive impacts on local communities, fostering resilience and sustainable development in Luapula Province.
